The Cell Cycle
Hello everyone, we're back with information on the cell cycle! There are 6 phases in the cell cycle as you can see from the picture attached below.
Interphase- This is the first phase. Most of the time is spent on this phase. In this phase, the cell grows, and genetic material is used as date for the new cells. All the cells create a copy of themselves in a process called DNA replication.
Prophase- The nuclear membrame breaks down, and the copy and the original are attached together. Also, the chromesomes bunch up together
Metaphase- Chromosomes line up in the center of the cell.
Anaphase- Chromosomes split from each other and moves to the opposite side.
Telophase- Nuclear around each set of chromosomes. It's also the last stage of mitosis and 2 new nucleus are formed.
Cytokinesis- The cell membrane pinches and form 2 daughter cells, each daughter cell is genetically identical to the parent cell. The daughter cell is smaller than the parent and it will grow into interphase. Then the whole cell cycle continues. :)
